DARTMOOR ‘CHRISTMAS COUPLE’ EARN DOWNING STREET SPOTLIGHT FOR THEIR TREES AND WREATH

A HUSBAND and wife team from Dartmoor have sensationally claimed a total of SEVEN prizes in this year’s British Christmas Tree competition – earning themselves a very special trip to Downing Street.

Stuart and Jennie Kirkup, who have been running Dartmoor Christmas Trees since 2002, were yesterday selected as standout winners in the categories of Champion Christmas Tree and Champion Wreath, in the British Christmas Tree Growers’ Association’s annual contest.

COMPETITION COUNTDOWN FOR BRITISH CHRISTMAS TREE GROWERS (2016)

WITH just over two months until Christmas Day dawns again, tree farmers across the country are preparing to enter their all-important annual Christmas Tree contest.

Held every year by the British Christmas Tree Growers Association, the event looks to find which grower will be awarded the title of “Christmas Tree Grower of the Year” and who will have created the “Champion Festive Wreath”.

CHRISTMAS officially begins at Downing Street on Monday afternoon, when the tree outside  Number 10 will be lit for the first time this season.

For certain members of the British Christmas Tree Growers Association, this is the ultimate acknowledgement of their expertise – having won the honour of handing trees and a wreath to the official Prime Minister’s residence.

OXFORD CHRISTMAS TREE GROWERS SIGNAL DOWNING STREET CHRISTMAS

OXFORDSHIRE business, The Tree Barn, last night played a very special role in the start of Christmas, at the Prime Minister’s official residence.

A team from the Christmas tree company, at Christmas Common in Watlington, took part in the lights ‘switch on’ at Downing Street, in recognition of their tree being chosen to feature outside Number 10.
