Lights Switch-On For Downing Street

CHRISTMAS officially begins at Downing Street on Monday afternoon, when the tree outside  Number 10 will be lit for the first time this season.

For certain members of the British Christmas Tree Growers Association, this is the ultimate acknowledgement of their expertise – having won the honour of handing trees and a wreath to the official Prime Minister’s residence.

Harry Brightwell, secretary of the BCTGA said: “We expect prices to be very similar to last year For a 6-7 ft Nordman grown by a BCTGA member, you will most likely be paying in the region of £45 to £55. For a Norway Spruce this would be between £25 and £35 typically. Prices do vary across the country, and premium trees can cost more.”
