A grower whose Christmas trees have decorated No. 10 Downing Street has been elected the new chairman of the British Christmas Tree Growers Association (BCTGA).
Hans Alexandersen, owner of family-run Christmas tree farm H A Trim Christmas Trees near Guildford in the Surrey hills, was elected on 11th June at the AGM.
Harry Brightwell, secretary of BCTGA said: “We are delighted Hans has accepted the role as chairman.
“Having worked as a successful grower for many years, he has a vast amount of knowledge of the industry so he will be an invaluable asset to the association.”
Hans has won several awards at the British Christmas tree growers’ competitions. He has even supplied No. 10 Downing Street with a tree for the Pillared room and a wreath to adorn the famous front door. H A trim also won ‘Best Short Film’ and therefore supplied a Christmas tree to the Foreign Office.
Hans said: “It is a huge privilege to be chosen for the role as chairman. I hope that all the years in the business and the experience I have gained whilst growing Christmas trees will enable me to support the association and its many members going forward.”
The British Christmas Tree Growers Association is the trade association for those who grow specialist Christmas trees in Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
Membership is open to all Christmas tree growers across the UK, with associate membership available for people who provide goods and services to the Christmas Tree industry.
