Around 150 Christmas tree growers will be celebrating Christmas at the height of summer in Surrey.
The British Christmas Tree Growers Association (BCTGA) is hosting their annual Christmas Tree growers’ open day and AGM at HA Trim in Guildford tomorrow (12th June). The event unites members to make plans and share knowledge on growing the best trees for the festive season.
Harry Brightwell, secretary of BCTGA, said:
“The event sees growers from across the UK and even some delegates from Europe attending to share advice and updates on growing beautiful trees.
“Christmas is just one special, magical day in 365 for most people. But growers live and breathe Christmas every single day of the year. It is the day we work towards whatever the weather - spring, summer, autumn and winter.”
The British Christmas Tree Growers Association, based in Tuddenham St Martin, Suffolk, was established in 1979 to provide a quality standard for Christmas tree growers in the UK and champion the purchase of real Christmas trees. It has more than 300 members.
Mr Brightwell added: “We are expecting the event to be an informative and interesting day for all attending and is a wonderful opportunity to share a bit of British Christmas cheer.”
The event is being hosted by BCTGA member, Hans Alexandersen of HA Trim at his farm on Guildford Road. The family-run business has more than 400 acres across nine sites, with approximately 835,000 trees in plantation.
